There you have it, folks, the potentially worst way to start a newsletter.
As if I’d do this any other way, though.
But–we’re back!
This website is still under construction, and I’m still figuring out how to maneuver being an author like Bambi figured out how to wobble/walk on ice. I plan to have some headshots on here soon, bookish updates once a month or so as I work on book 2 in The Masc Narrative, and I’ll continue to promote my Patreon as well.
That being said, with my first booth event coming up this month (April 26th, Central Library in Austin! BE THERE!) I’ve been encouraged to start a newsletter.
Should I have done this ages ago?
…Anyway.
I’m super pumped for this upcoming event–not only because I can’t wait to have all three of my current books out on a table together for folks to see, but because I’ve been asked to SPEAK at the event on a panel.
A romance…and erotica panel.
Which, for anyone who knows me, this is when the nervous laughter starts.
Let me say first, I’m truly honored that I’ve been asked to be part of this; it’s not as if I’m going into this event with a fanbase or anything like that, so I don’t see this as being a Q&A focused on the books themselves, but more on the genre that I write.
Let me say second that, I don’t actually write romance, or erotica.
My books tend to have romance in them, yes–in fact, What About After is in the romance section in a local bookstore. That being said, I don’t see it as strictly romance, and I certainly don’t see Starts with a Match as romance, either (luckily that one is in horror, where it belongs).
Following this, my newest series The Masc Narrative is most certainly, first and foremost, a general fiction series; it began as YA only to evolve to be NA/Adult, to better fit the age range of the books later in the series; this doesn’t mean it’s an ‘adult’ book–far from it, in my opinion. It means these are for everyone ages 15 and up. Any walk of life, any background, any struggles and anything else.
I’m thrilled to get to speak on this panel, especially since I spoke to someone recently who said ‘it’s good you’re not all going to be the same; what a panel like this needs is diversity’.
By golly, my books have that…
Excited to see what the future holds as I move into publishing my fourth(!!!) book!
Talk to y’all soon!
