We! Are! Off!

Welcome to the world, Alternate Ending, Book 2 in the Masc Narrative

I almost don’t know what to say.
…Almost.

It’s such an incredible feeling having another book in the world. I did a LOT of marketing and promoting for my first book, What About After. I did tons for Starts with a Match, but I know I could’ve done more. When I backed off a little for The Letterman, I worried I was going down hill, falling backward.

With Alternate Ending, did I do all that I could before launch? Probably not.
I mean, the fact that I’m writing this the day of launch at 11:24am says I definitely could’ve prepared better.

Will I ever think that I’ve done all that I could do?
Probably not.

But what’s the saying? Do it scared? Don’t wait for perfect?
There’s lost of phrases, I guess.

My point is:

Alternate Ending (or AE as I call it) has been on NetGalley for a couple weeks now. It has yet to receive a single review.
Just last night, that bothered me.

Today, it might irk me a bit.
But I also acknowledge that I didn’t write this book–or any of my books–to receive clout and glowing reviews. (Does it feel nice when people enjoy my macaroni art? Yes, I’m only human.) But really, I wrote it for a friend who once told me it helped them in their darkest time. I wrote it for little me who needed to be shown her story wasn’t special.

And I mean that in a kind way. So often, we think we’re the only ones going through what we’re going through.
The good–no one could ever be as happy as I am now!
And the bad–no one could ever be struggling the way I am now.

This book, this series, really, are for anyone who’s started to feel that sink into the valley; who’s hardships resemble Taron’s, Aleese’s. Who have watched the fracture of their family like Teddy, who’ve felt isolated like Thomas, Tori, Jay. Who’ve carried it all on their own, because they didn’t know they had another choice, like Russell.

So yeah, today I might have some fluctuating emotions around reviews, pages read, yada yada. I mean, I published another book for Pete’s sake; I’m already weeping into my tea. (That sounds like Simeon (who I can’t wait for y’all to meet, by the way).)

But tomorrow?

I’ll be getting to work putting my books onto other platforms, getting them into more local stores, and providing as many free ways for people to read these as possible. Between now and January, I won’t stop talking about what I’ve created to anyone who need to hear about it. Come January, I’ll pick the series back up editing-wise, and we’ll keep the train going with book three. (If you got the paperback of AE, you just might get a peek at the b&w cover for the next in the series…)

Regardless of income or copies sold or anything, my ultimate aim is to share. If that’s with the same five or so people who are constantly positively impacted, or five thousand.

Or if that’s just sharing between me, and little me. That’s the goal.

“Maybe that’s the real punk rock.”
Sorry, I just saw the new Superman and couldn’t help myself…

Places to read Alternate Ending, as well as my previous books:

(I think I used my quota of parenthesis for the year, but I had to; they’re a character of their own in Russell’s voice.)

As always, love and cheers,
Quinn
